In 2005, four pioneers and experts in field of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine have established the first branch of Yafa Medical Labs (YML) in Amman -Jordan. The founders were the well-known pathologist Yahya Al-Dajani; MD, the microbiologist Marwan Khoury; PhD, the immunologist Basma Ibrahim; MD and the Biochemist Hani Barakat; MSc. The founders with more than 50 years of total experience in diagnostic laboratory business were able to launch and operate YML.
Since 2008, Salem Akel, PhD/postdoctoral fellow of Hematology has joined the YML team as the Chief Executive officer (CEO). Dr. Akel has more than 20 years of technical/academic experience in laboratory medicine including research/clinical experience in Cellular and Gene therapy. He has directed many programs such as Saint Louis Cord Blood bank and cell therapy Laboratories, MO, USA; BabyCord -Jordan, and Cell therapy labs @ St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN, USA.
Over time, The YML has positioned itself among the best diagnostic labs in Jordan, extended the testing menu, provided a referral service to other labs, gained clients trust, and recognized by health professionals for its mission, quality results and affordable services.
